Hints & Tips

***Hints and Tips on traveling***
  • PACKING/CLOTHES
Yes, you may pack shorts! (If you're going to a religious/conservative countries). It's okay to wear them. Be sure to bring long pants or skirts for religious sightseeing and when attending lectures on campus. Pack light and bring only what you need and try to bring clothes that are versatile because you'll always be on the go. You can buy lots of stuff in Malaysia if you need anything. Pack an empty rolled up duffel bag in your suitcase in case you buy too much and use it as a carry on later. Be ready to lift your suitcases up and down staircases! I only brought one suitcase for a month and half. Travel light, especially if you're going to be on the go and jumping from city to city or country to country.

  • WEATHER (in Malaysia)
It's really hot. You will sweat...a lot.

  • BUY AN ADAPTER/CONVERTER
The voltage is different here than in the US; and every continent

  • LAPTOP/INTERNET (in Malaysia)
You will be so busy there's not much time to sit down and surf the web. However, the wifi is not reliable, some websites are blocked, and in some areas there's no wifi. I brought mine, but it's up to you.

  • PARTYING? (in Malaysia)
Don't let the professors know. ;)
